Name: Snake
Door: Right (don't judge a book by its cover)

Canon: Black Butler
Canon Point: After the Luxury Liner Arc, during Easter.

Age: 18-20.
Appearance: [1] and [2]

History: [here].
Personality:

Positive:
~Loyal:
Despite his negative traits and having been hurt so much in the past, Snake is incredibly loyal at heart to those that are kind to him (and his snakes). When he was freed from his cage at the freakshow by the first string troupe members he followed them in their circus and even performed for them to showcase his own body that he dislikes. Yet his loyalty for them did not stop there as when they go missing he abandons the only ‘home’ he’s ever known to go and find them. He could have stayed at the Noah’s Ark Circus (he was one of the first string members, after all, even if he wasn’t involved in their kidnapping of children) and he could have lived a comfortable life there among the other performers, but he chose to leave it all behind and risk scorn, hate, and foul treatment in order to try and find them.

Additionally, once he began working for Ciel he became loyal to him as well. Willing to use his snakes and own body to fight for him and protect him onboard the Campania, kill various people with venomous snakes that had Ciel captured, as well as even send one of his beloved snake friends to spy on werewolves (a large risk to Oscar’s safety) to gather information to help him. He is loyal to an unfortunate fault even to those that do not deserve his loyalty (like a literal demon).

Negative:
~Self-criticizing:
Because of his time before joining Noah’s Ark Circus, Snake has developed a heavily self-conscious and self-criticizing nature. He grew up listening to people insult, mock, and fear him due to his bodily condition up until he was saved by the headliners of his future circus. Despite them treating him like family (and he loves them dearly for it), he still shows clear signs of being self-criticizing of his own appearance and abilities just in general for himself as well as how his presence affects those around him. Whether it be by his body being revealed outside of his ‘show’ or only having minimal abilities compared to the other members of the estate.

In Book of Atlantic/The Luxury Liner Arc while onboard the Campania, Snake expresses deep upset about his appearance after other passengers comment on his appearance and call him a freak based on his exterior. He immediately begins to vocally put himself down to agree with their statements and tells his new master, Ciel, that he’s worried what people will think of him by association because he believes that his appearance is weird and will only tarnish Ciel’s reputation among the noble class. Even though Ciel says that he can spend time with whomever he wishes and Sebastian encourages him to stand tall (which Snake does appreciate), he quickly flees below the ship shortly afterwards when he’s left alone.

~Naive:
Like many in the series, Snake is rather naive when it comes to major plots. He’s easily manipulated and influenced by the kindness of others. While he was rescued by the first string members of the Noah’s Ark Circus, he turned a blind eye to the fact that they were kidnapping children for a darker cause. He was willing to ignore the bad things that he suspected they were doing in favor of sparing his own emotions and keeping his new ‘family’ together. They rescued him (genuinely of kindness), but he refused to ever suspect them of any wrongdoing even when the facts were blatantly obvious. The circus was clearly responsible for children all across the country going missing (because kids always went missing wherever they went. Go figure!), and yet Snake refused to see it.

He is additionally blind to others clearly parading their own wrong doing with his new lord Ciel. When the first string troupe members ‘disappear’ (killed by Ciel’s own estate staff), Snake goes out to find Ciel and Sebastian for further information of what happened. To be fair, he did suspect them of foul play and correctly assumed their involvement in the troupe’s disappearance, but his own kindness and naivety got the better of him when Ciel offered to ‘look for them together’ with promises that Snake could be there when they found them. Ciel’s promise of reuniting Snake with his ‘family’ too easily convinces Snake to join his side and he served Ciel loyally from then onward because of his own desire to believe him.

~Co-dependant:
Snake was caged for an unknown period of time when he was younger due to his body. He was trapped by another circus which had him displayed as a ‘freak show’ attraction. Because of this he has developed a flawed view of not only other people, but also of other living things in general. Initially, he seems standoffish and reserved, but when shown any semblance of kindness Snake is quick to become dependent on others for his own emotional stability. For example, when he was rescued by the Noah’s Ark Circus he quickly became reliant on them. Their happiness and presence was required for him to feel happy.

When the group ‘disappears’ (they were killed by Ciel’s own estate staff) he abandons the circus in search of them because he feels ‘too lonely’ to continue to live among the other circus members (even though they were just as kind to him as the main troupe members were). This led him to go across the country to find the only other two that he felt he could speak to about the troupe’s disappearance: Smile (Ciel) and Black (Sebastian). At first he shows a violent reaction toward them because he believes that they are at fault for the troupe’s disappearance (which they are), but Ciel extends a hand toward him and offers to help Snake ‘find’ them with a lie that they had simply run away due to their crimes of kidnapping children. Ciel then tells Snake that he wants to help him as well as the original troupe and that he would take care of Snake so they can search together so they can all be together like a family. Snake agrees and serves Ciel loyally from that point forward.

His co-dependence doesn’t end with people either. He is heavily dependent on his [snakes] to the point where he almost exclusively speaks through them, claiming that it is their words. While he can speak to snakes and often does speak for them, he often uses them as a crutch for his own insecurities and nervousness with others. He does this by speaking or asking a question, but claiming that it is a snake doing so and it is especially prominent when he is in a stressful situation. Without the snakes he fumbles and worries over his words and being separated from them for long causes him extreme separation anxiety to the point that Ciel and Sebastian arranged for his snakes to be brought with them in a giant box on a cruise ship of all places. While they had arranged for Snake to bring his smallest snake with him (Donne) onboard, that wasn’t enough to calm Snake’s nerves and he quickly made his way to the underdeck storage to feed and be near the others.

Powers and Abilities:
Snake has the uncanny ability to speak to snakes of all breeds and size. They trust him and follow his will. Whether this is just by his closeness with these particular snakes or an innate ability due to him having snake-like traits isn’t entirely explained. However, there are many, many snakes in his care that he speaks for as well as gives distinct personalities that react to how he’s speaking to them showing that he holds a much deeper conversational ability with them than anyone else and their simple pet.

He is able to lift a fair bit of weight, though seems to have relatively human limitations. Just one of his snakes weighs almost 60 pounds (that he wears constantly on his shoulders). That isn’t including the weight of all his other snakes that he carries with him that average between 2 and 11lbs. He’s been shown to carry them in a bag as well as just passively wrapped around his body in large quantities.

Snake is able to feel vibrations and sounds through his skin like a snake can.

Other than that he is rather resilient and a good dancer, snake charmer and he is said to be fairly flexible, but that’s it!

Inventory:
Snake has no belongings other than his snakes. He has more snakes than these, but I would like to request he bring these three pets of his if possible. They can all fit in a messenger bag and have done so in canon:

Emily, a common milksnake.
Webster, a special breed of pit viper from Queimada Island.
Wilde, a boa constrictor (though he’s small for one so he could still be rather young).
